I make a point of it to see my family in Guatemala every year. Even though they are geographically far, they are close to me in my heart. Thankfully technology has made the longing dissipate. Our WhatsApp group is popping on a daily basis. I don't miss a beat.

This image brings me back to some of the best moments of my life. Monterrico is a small beach town on the Western coast of Guatemala, and not far from El Salvador. It's peaceful, hot, and relaxing. Ringing in new year after new year, it will always be the best way to end and start my year. People I love, away from the hustle and bustle of amateurish new year's drunkenness and flanked by amazing weather and relaxation.

I can't wait to be there again this year.
